Very Inconsistent! Just moved to the neighborhood and tried the Country Fried Noodles (Saimin) from the take out window. It was awesome! We look for places for Sunday breakfast so decided to try inside the restaurant one Sunday morning and it was not so good. Decided to give it one more try by ordering from their catering menu for a small luncheon. How can you mess up Beef Teriyaki or BBQ Chicken? They were both so dry & over cooked! Don't know what kind of sauce they used, but did you ever taste teriyaki that needed salt? I hardly eat salt and these two dishes had no flavor. The grilled fish was really good, though. I ordered the Fried Noodles and needed the pork (spam, char siu, etc) seperated for some guests don't eat pork. I guess char siu is not pork because they left it on! The macaroni/potoato salad was spaghetti noodles with barely any potatoes, and no eggs. Additionally, it was over-salted and threw away the whole pan. I only gave this place a generous two stars for the first fried noodle experience, the restaurant service was nice that Sunday morning, and the grilled fish was excellent. However, I will not be returning to this restaurant any more. I can always find a better place to dine and cater.

Stumbled upon this place by pure accident... Ordered the #22 (Korean bbq short rib, kimchee and saimin). I misunderstood and thought the meat and kimchee wOuld be in the saimin but it came on the side. The bbq rib wasn't very good. It didn't even taste like it was cooked in the right sauce because I've never had short rib so sweet and the sauce so thick... The meat was too chewy and low quality too...However this isn't a Korean restaurant and i should have known better than to have ordered that lol However the saimin was fantastic! I've never been a fan of saimin... It's always been too bland or lacking something... This saimin exceeded expectations. Just enough spam, noodles were fresh, won tons were soft and i loved the cabbage. I now understand why they are famous for their saimin. Now I'm a fan! Prices are decent too considering the generous portion of saimin you receive.

Dined in. Cheap food decent quality. Saimin broth seemed packaged, not as authentic as other places such as Dillingham Saimin or Goma-Tei. Fresh noodles, decent portions. Waitress was fast at first but never saw her after she delivered food. Paid at register w/out getting a check. Maybe that's how it's done and we didn't know. I think I would come here instead of Zippy's cuz it's cheaper and pretty much same quality

I always love this place but the last time I went there I was sold spoiled MAKE SUSHI. Not only did the price go up by more than a dollar, but my sushi was spoiled when I got home to eat it. Love this place but the prices needs to be dropped. I always end up eating her once a month, but now it's gonna be 0 times a month.

My cousin took me here to try saimin. The restaurant was simple and had the atmosphere of a strip mall diner. Service was fast and the saimin was huge, fresh, and tasty.

Service here is really bad especially the phone orders always forgetting something never fails!! 4 times in a row I think it's time to go across the street to LNL instead.

I've been here a couple times before but after today I don't think I'll be back. The food tastes pretty good but I ordered a coffee and the cup was dirty, there was dried food or dirt along the rim of the mug! And the coffee tasted sour/acidic so it was probably old. Also there was some kind of plastic/metal shaving under my sandwich on the plate? There were also flies flying around us as we were trying to eat. Makes me question how clean the kitchen is and the quality of the food, eek!

I came here at 945pm the other day. They were still happy to cook my order, which was a cheeseburger with fries and a large saimin. All to go. Great service and food made to order. This place still feels like old town Ewa Beach, although I think it only opened 10 years ago. The food was good as expected. I don't remember having the cheeseburger before. I'm sure I have though. The beef was soft and fresh. The bread was soft too. I think they put ketchup in the burger and maybe the beef has some onions inside. Anyway, this burger rivals many other burgers I've had all across the US. The fries were generic. I think I would prefer not the crinkle cuts fries they had, but the thicker steak fries. But, that's just me. Saimin might not be as good as the one in Aiea, but I did go take out. Maybe the Aiea one is better than this location, but this one is close. The saimin is definitely better than the Zippy's saimin.

Their take out window is really convienent, but can take a long time for the food to come out. I like that you can see whats going on in the kitchen while you wait. The dining area is "seat yourself" kinna thing.. and the workers are like aunties that knew eachother since forever lol. Theyre friendly and the service is good. The food? So many choices of saimin! I think there is at least 70 types of saimin dishes you can choose from!

I'll Make this Review Short & Sweet.....(Like Me) lol This place is a Must-Go if you Love Ramen, it's actually what its known for. The food is Very Good whether its Ramen or plate lunches....they do have Maki Rolls and, Cone Sushi at this Location, and you can either Dine-in, or Take out...just be aware that if you pay by debit card outside, they do charge you $.70 for using it. Other than that....I say, Go Give it a Try! You won't be Disappointed!

I'd stick to their saimin creations. Not much of a fan of their plate lunches.

Quick and easy. The food is decent (try the banana pancakes). The service is okay. It gets an extra star for having a certain sentimental value to me. ;)

Mistah Saimin would surely be sad... This place has seen better days. In the recent past, the food was consistently yummers, but lately the food has been on a steep decline. Unfortunately, we have had a two bad experiences with random items in our saimin. The first incident involved a metal part of some sort that looked plumbing fixture from a faucet at the bottom of my husband's saimin bowl. Of course he discovered it after mopping up the entire bowl of saimin and was very disappointed and not to mention pretty disgusted not knowing where the heck the thing came from. Our waitress apologized over and over again on behalf of the kitchen and made it right by not charging us for the saimin but that left us with a bad taste (literally) and we didn't go back for awhile. Despite the bad experience, we decided to give it another go, only to be disappointed once more. This second incident involved some sort of piece of cardboard mixed among the saimin, and yes, this was also in my husband's saimin...lucky him. Once again, the waitress compensated us, but we thought for sure that we'd never go back again. We've stopped in a few times since then and have always left somewhat disappointed in the food. Though we order the same items pretty much everytime, the food has been inconsistent in its taste and quality. Our last visit has now become our official "last visit", as we have decided to never come back. I will say that it was an unusually large late lunch crowd (around 1pm) but we kept it simple by ordering saimins all around to hopefully expedite things. It took nearly 45 minutes for our food. Not to mention a strange (and gross) restroom outburst by a fellow customer and the grouchiest waitress ever. The dashi was way too salty and there were hardly any veggies and meat in our saimin. Strike three for us...and we're out. The name Shiro's was synonomous with a restaurant started by a local family who loved and took pride in their food, but it appears that it is no longer the case at the Ewa Beach restaurant. Rest in Peace Mistah Saimin

First things first I really like coming to Shiros, it was my first time at the Ewa Beach location. I first heard about Shiros was from my girlfriend, her family has been coming for such a long time and well when I went for the first time I went with her. Anyways the food is always good, and seems to be constant with each restaurant. For the food I give 4 stars. I am giving Shiros at Ewa beach 2 stars because the place was very small. We had to wait a while just to get our waters and our orders taken. That ONE waitress was the only aunty for the entire place. It also seemed like she was training another girl. Doing that slowed her down, plus making everyone wait. The other girl in training was making a lot of mistakes which caused customers to become irate. It was also hard for the two waitresses to communicate with one another because of the language barrier. Other than that our food came and we were beyond happy that they haven't messed our orders up. I know for sure I am not going to come to this one in particular again. I will be going to the Waimalu Shiros instead, they are always good!

When they recognize your voice over the phone and already know what you are ordering, you're a regular. If I am sick or craving for saimin, this is the place I will head to and pick up their saimin with their crinkled fries. Usually on Sunday mornings before church, I would call ahead and order their fried rice omelet with vienna sausage on the side. However, for awhile I have been lagging and rushing, I don't have the time to call in the order to pick it up. Now, keep this in mind with what I share next... We're sitting in their dine-in area and the waitress who usually mans the front counter on the take-out side, looked at me and asked "How come you don't come anymore in the mornings to pick up your fried rice?" I was taken back because I was thinking to myself, "wow, it's been a year or two that I haven't done that." Now, THAT question alone impressed me because who remembers things like that especially when you're dealing with customers on a daily basis? I LOVE IT! Ewa Beach location is pretty good if you're taking out or eating in. There is two waitresses here that I will recognize. First, the lady that remembers my breakfast and there is another lady that will take your order WITHOUT writing it down and the orders are always right. And this is from a group of six! My sons will usually order the chicken katsu and let me just share they do NOT skimp on the chicken katsu. I will order their medium old-fashioned saimin without the vegetables. If I go to their location in Waimalu, it is just as good especially because their take-out counter makes maki sushi that is great for office snacking.

It gets pretty busy, so sometimes the waitresses are overwhelmed and may take a bit longer to get your orders out. This place gets busy for a reason. They have a great variety of saimin along with many other tasty food items. I love to take my daughter here, the waitresses are so friendly. They may seem a bit impatient, as if they're trying to hurry you along, but they do pay attention to you, and please understand that you are NOT the only person in the restaurant. They have other tables to wait on as well. There are days where I don't want to sit out. I just want to sit in the comfort of my home and eat. For this, I am happy that they can take phone orders. My favorites are the fried rice omelet with pork adobo and the supa teri burga, although I do try out some of their other items from time to time (I enjoy them as well :D). I also love their potato mac salad. If you have patience and want a pretty good meal with reasonable prices, this is the place to be :) The food isn't necessarily to die for, but it hits the spot for me lol.

WARNING! They serve spoiled food here! Corn was super stink and sour! Obviously they cut corners to cut food cost! Lots of "fillers" in the hamburger meat! Never offer refund! No apology! POOR MANAGEMENT! Do not waste your $$

A bajillion combinations, which makes it impossible to decide what to order. Good saimin at a good price. I had the combo which came with saimin and teri beef burger. Saimin was good as always, but the teri beef was a little on the tough side. Wouldn't drive all the way out here just to eat the food. But if I'm in the area, I would hit it up if I'm craving some good saimin. :)

I don't know why, but every few months.... I get a craving for Shiro's Saimin. When that time comes, I know I need to hit up the nearest Shiro's in Ewa Beach. Most of the time when I come here, I get the Japanese Saimin. It comes with wun ton, char siu, sliced eggs, a poached egg and takuwan. It's a happy combination for my taste buds and my tummy. The broth can be salty at times on its own, but the noodles offset it perfectly. And the noodles are bomb! I've also tried the fried noodles, which are really good as well but I think are kind of greasy for my tastes. I've gotten some plate lunches here too which aren't too special, but the "saimin-salad" is what makes it stand out... Mac salad but with saimin noodles instead of the mac! It's definitely unique, and I'll definitely steal a few bites if a friend orders a plate lunch. I think if you come here for the first time, get the Saimin since it's what they're known for. It's affordable comfort food, you won't be disappointed!

Shiro's was the perfect place to go to on a chilly night in Ewa. I wanted to give the more stars but the samin is ok and the fries were kind of greasy spoon like. Even though the food was ok, I did love the server. She was accommodating and knowledgeable. The menu is LARGE and so are the portions for most items. We couldn't finish our meal, the saimin with everything in it and some gravy fries because of the portion, but the taste was kind of old school mom and pop eatery. If you are looking for old school saimin then this is the place for you.

Excellent food and a good value. I ate breakfast here the other day, got the bacon and eggs with fried rice. Bacon and eggs were cooked just right, and the fried rice was one of the best I've eaten! The taste was good and I liked how it was cooked. Some places will leave lumps of rice stuck together, but not here. I also like it that they now serve Green River!

What a BS service via phone. I called to make an order at 709 Pm on Nov 1, 2013. This lady answers the phone and asked me if I can hold. I replied, "okay." 9 minutes and 39 seconds later the phone is hanged up. Each minute that past got me pissed. I can hear her laughing, joking, and making orders. The lady forgot about me. I guess another employee just hanged up the phone without checking the line. I hope the manager or owner see this review. This incident could of been prevented. SMH

06/25/11 A dive, but a very tasty one! Shiro's is the family-run resto my friends head to when they crave for saimin and loco moco, and it's a place I look forward to return to when I visit said friends again! The ambience* leaves much to be desired, but what Shiro's lacks in good looks, it abounds in good food and small-town friendly service! My friend loves loco moco, but tried her best to choose another option. Alas, she fell back to her tried-and-true, which must've been great, since she left no evidence in her wake. Her hubby and I had cravings for saimin; I believe he ordered a bowl w/ a little bit of everything, and I ordered the #14, Crispy wuntun, vegetables, and garnishes. yelp.com/biz_photos/shir… I also wanted to try their kalua pork from their sides' menu. yelp.com/biz_photos/shir… And for the little one, his 'rents ordered the fried noodles off of the kids' menu. I really enjoyed the saimin, which surprised me by including meat (sliced ham, or was it Spam?, and bbq pork), as I'd expected it to comprise of only noodles and veggies-- the crispy wun tun yelp.com/biz_photos/shir… was delivered before the actual bowl of noodles and broth appeared. But hey! I didn't complain! I'd order a saimin bowl again, but w/out the wun tun. Not that there was anything wrong w/ them. It just seemed to me that I was ruining such a great-tasting and seemingly-healthful dish by adding fried items to the bowl. As for fried items, we all enjoyed sharing the dish of fried noodles, yelp.com/biz_photos/shir… which was plenty enough to be sampled by three hungry adults (each w/ their own entree, of course) and one very hungry toddler! After all the grazing and actual dining, I'd had my fill of the noodles (and I still had 2/3 of a bowl of noodles left), pork, and all of the wun tun, yet we still had almost a bowlful of kalua pork and a serving and a half of fried noodles to take home! These served as great leftover additions to our bounty from The Poke Stop for dinner the next evening... Had I known that Shiro's also offered breakfast items, such as sweet bread French toast and a Filipino adobo plate, I'd have asked to be taken there again the next day, but now I'll have to wait till I return to Oahu... hopefully in the very near future! *The owner loves to write haikus, and his framed musings meet your gaze wherever your eyes land on the restaurant's walls.

Wonderful saimin. My son ( 10 yrs old) is a really picky eater and would eat Shiros saimin three times a day, if I would let him. The burgers have a strong onion flavor, which my husband loves, and I enjoy their grilled Ono with rice. They are also great when we bring in our very loud and messy 2 year old. My entire family enjoys this restaurant.

Shiro's is awesome because they have tons of Saimin options to choose from for all taste buds, yummy specials and affordable prices. The veggie saimin, the seafarer's, do don pa, fried Saimin and the Korean saimin are faces of the And the waitstaff there super friendly amd accommodating.

Went here a few days ago on a rainy day...I love to eat saimin on rainy days...anyway, I waited 45 minutes for my crispy gaugee saimin!! it wasn't even busy when I got there...I was the second one to order before their rush came in! Next time, I'll just go to Ramen ya which is a little further but they're faster and the saimin is better as well...

I was craving for a good burger and decided to try Shiro's Double Hula Teri Burga and a large fries combo from their take out window. Teri Burga: Massive homemade double patty burger separated by a middle bun similar to a big mac, covered in generous amount of teriyaki sauce. Large Fries: Restaurant crinkle cut style deep fried to golden brown. Large quantity of fries to fit a paper hot dog sleeve! Overall experience: Friendly but short staffed. It looked like a 3 person crew, one for the take out window, one for the dining room and one cooking in the kitchen. Service was slow but the burger was awesome, if you're looking for a burger fix!

I don't eat Ramen very often, but decided to give it a shot since my friend told me they had the best on island. I was quite impressed and full when I ate here and would recommend it to anyone who like Ramen. They also have locations in Pearl City and Waipahu.

Came here on a Friday and I was surprised there was bunch of people waiting. Normally there is always one or two people in front of me but there was about more than 5 people here. After waiting for a couple minutes I ordered some of their hula hula chicken to go. It took awhile for me to finally get my order I tried to kill time by playing some apps on my phone. When I got home I started digging into my plate I ate the noodle version of the mac salad first it tasted alright and it was different. I guess they ran out macaroni or something. Then I moved on to the chicken it tasted good but I think they used a little to much sauce. Yelp 365 Challenge - #034/3659

I came here for some late night dining (around 20:00) and the place was empty aside from a couple customers ordering through the take-out window. It seemed like there were only 3 or 4 people working at that moment, one waiter for dining, one cashier for the take out and one or two cooks. Opened up the menu and BAM! -- all sorts of saimin flooded my optical senses! Reading words hurts my brain so I just asked for number #22: Korean BBQ (galbi) Saimin. Busted out my phone and didn't even beat the first level of Tetris before I looked up and saw my bowl of savory noodles, tender raw meat and cooked vegetables staring back at me. The Korean BBQ was to come later as it was still being prepared but this would be enough to satiate my never ending (story) hunger. Only when I had taken a quick break from eating to breath air, my lone slab of galbi, graciously slathered in teriyaki sauce and adorned with (very mild) kimchi presented itself to me. I did not hesitate. Within seconds the galbi had been destroyed by my masterful samurai-like cutting skills and devoured in such fury that three tables over someone puked out of sheer awe. The kimchi was not safe either, undergoing similar treatment with the addition of being baptized in saimin soup. I walked away with $9 less, but happier than when I had gone in.

However you can imagine a bowl of saimin you can have it here, plus maybe a few you haven't thought of. One of the best Mahi Burgers around. Grilled without any breading to mask the wonderful flavor and presented simply. A must stop for locals as well as those returning to the island from the mainland.

Shiro's is a little food joint in Ewa Beach that's known for being easy on the wallet and in the belly. They are, of course, known for their lengthy and creative saimin menu that boasts as many types of saimin dishes that you can think of (One particular dish called "The Linda Lingle Saimin" comes to mind.) Eating in their dine-in restaurant was fine on the several occasions I went in there. It's got that little diner charm with a jukebox and quirky love poems posted around the walls. I've eaten there both for breakfast and lunch and can safely say that the food is good. Don't ever buy the coffee, though, because that stuff tastes like tank water. Their take-out window is normally busy, so I always call in my order before pick up. It's always ready by the time I get there. Bear in mind that although the dine-in restaurant accepts credit cards, the take-out window does not. If you're not in the mood for saimin noodles, you should definitely try their fried rice and loco moco. Most of their special plates are delicious (Although the mac salad that comes with them looks kind of questionable) and they've also got pretty good burgers for those times where you just want something simple. The service is pretty good. The two ladies that I normally see know what they're doing, aren't rude, and work hard to get your orders out. There is one Filipino lady in particular who I always enjoy getting service from because she is so nice!

The BEST saimin PERIOD!!! This is a lovely family run low key restaurant, not a corporate establishment. Food is made fresh to order with quality ingredients. There is over 65 types of saimin to order with endless sides and appetizers. If you are not a fan of saimin or not sure what to order I would recomend without a doubt the fried noodles. Imagine a bowl of saimin with all the fixings meat and all, fried up and served on a plate. DELISH!!! Prices are great, service is SUPER FAST, just an all around great place!

The fact they serve tasty liver with grilled onions AND bacon (not liver with onions, add bacon for $1.50 or whatever), is top notch in my book. Not too many places serve this and serve it well. Flavorful, thick slices, crispy crust and crispy bacon...yum! And of course, their infinite varieties of saimin is a plus.

Do not go here for breakfast... or anything else. Two eggs, a couple peices of bacon and a tiny hashbrown patty... $6.50! Crappy tiny burger with nothing on it and no fries... $5.50! Girldfriend and I "ate' there today, and spent $20, for basically two breakfast sides. They dont give you anything for your money and charge extra if you use your card. Food is barely edible, too. Shiro's sucks. Skip this place and go to the McDonalds next door instead....

if you love saimin, go here. unfortunately i'm not the biggest fan of saimin. it just seems like flavorless ramen..... with a little bit worse noodles. i'd rather have so many different types of japanese noodles - ramen, udon, soba, somen or any others i may have missed. so it's probably that i can't fully appreciate it, but i thought the fried rice here was the best. everyone i go with loves this place. it doesn't taste bad persay, but in hawaii, there's so many places i'd rather go. but this place is pretty ill because there's such a crazy variety of STUFF you can get in your saimin. i capitalize STUFF because i can't categorize everything you can get into any kind of category. you can't get won tons, lumpia, char siu, portugese sausage, egg, cabbage, hamburger, nori, fishcake, chicken, chunks of beef, mochi, literally.....it's bananas what you can get in there.....wait...can you get bananas in there?! i wish more ramen places were like this that you could get more any sort of STUFF in your bowl. and it's cheap. i was originally going to rate it 2 stars cuz it's not that great to me, but the price makes it pretty dopetacular and deserves one extra star.

At the take-out window, ordered a pork cutlet, regular saimin, mini hamburger steak, and a spam musubi at 6:20 pm last night. Paid for my order and 30 minutes later, got my order. Checked it and they forgot the musubi. Ordered it, thinking only 5 more minutes. 15 minutes later asked fo a refund because they didn't even start frying the spam and they gave me a teri hamburger steak with toss...Totally wrong order and slow service. Girl behind the counter tried her best but there was no communication from the window to the cook. If you want Shiro's, go inside (even though most of the time only one waitress is available). Take out never again!

I was so excited to first try this place out. I ordered the saimin with everything in it. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED!! The broth had no flavor, and the noodles weren't cook through. How can you call yourself a Saimin Heaven and serve crappy saimin!???? I swear, the saimin from the styro cups was better than what i had that night.

The #58... that's all I can say! There isn't a better "comfort food" takeout place in the area, as far as I'm concerned. To get your saimin fix, there's a HUGE list of saimin bowls, and the portions and prices are right. I haven't had anything but a few different saimin bowls, but I live down the street, so it might be my next plate lunch stop.

    (4)
  • Christina S.

If you want homey food then this place hits the spot. All your local foods plus their well known varieties of saimin always keeps you satisfied. My fave is wonton saimin with the hula burgah!! Yum! Price is good too!!

  • K K.

It's like ole faithful.... No matter what you eat it's always average to good. If you like saimin then they have a good selection of choices. I usually order the hula burger and won ton mein combo. I think it's number 55 on the menu. For breakfast a good choice is the fried rice omelet with choice of meat. If you stop by between 11am to 12pm there's normally a line at the takeout window. So if you're in the area and can't decide where to eat why not give ole faithful a try. I'm sure you'll be able to find something you want.

I used to eat at the Shiro's (at Kaimuki location which is closed now) when I was going to college here so the Shiro's has a very nostalgic place in my heart. I had come and eat here! Three great things at the Shiro's that hasn't changed: 1. Every type of saimin dish you can imagine to choose from 2. Your food comes fast! 3. Easy on your budget

  • Ku'ulei R.

I come to Shiro's maybe once or twice a month and each time I come the food is GOOD. You can either dine in or go to the take out counter outside and take your food home. They have sooo much different food choices. You can get saimin which they are known for, burgers, plate lunches, etc. I usually get the teri burger which is good. The pork adobo fried rice omelet plate is super good. The only reason why I can't give this place 4 stars is that they take FOREVER to bring your food out. If you know what you want to eat I would suggest calling in your order, if not you are looking at waiting 10-20 minutes for your food.

  • Elle K.

Been disappointed the last few times I've gotten take-out here unfortunately. Half the time the food obviously was microwaved..such as the bacon in the fried rice, the yakitori chicken in the country noodles, AND in the sandwich. Hate to say that the only things I have been satisfied with are the teri burgas, french fries, and icee floats. The service is always pretty good and quick but doesn't make up for overpriced, nuked food. I guess when saimin is their specialty, they figure they can slack on everything else? Makes me sooo sad...especially when I'm home already with the food and too lazy to drive back...

Pretty good..3.5 stars Its an average place but what makes it unique is that they're known for saimin.. yes, I know it says saimin-haven. =) I like the spam saimin (good when you're craving spam) Beef stew and saimin (good thing the stew comes on the side and not in the saimin) Kalbi and saimin (well... kalibi wasn't very good quality..but its ok) **My bf and I wore college tshirts one day and one of the ladies was so happy to have customers like us.. she was genuinely sweet. Awww... =)

The place is known for their saimin variety. You must try one of their interesting saimin creations. The rest of the menu is average at best. This location has slow service but that is usually because they only have one waitress working.

We ate here the other day and we liked the place. You can order take out at window or dine in. We dined in, the place was clean and we had great service. Big selection of siamin. I didnt care for siamin but the beef stew hit the spot, and the handmade teri burger was really good. I also enjoyed the potato-mac salad was good and french fries too. Like a homecooked meal, no frills but satisfying.

I love Shiros! I eat here a few times a month. They have the best saimin, in my opinion. My favorite has to be their won ton saimin with vegetables. The only thing that prevents me from giving them 5 stars is that it takes FOREVER to get your food. The best thing to do is call in your order and then go pick it up. I try not to order at the window if I can. Prices aren't to bad either, but they did just raise their prices as of June 2011! Love this place!

This was our first time to Ewa Beach and trying Saimin.... not only was the food excellent but, so was the service! The teri burgers and fries were very tasty and a good price. We loved to sit and read all the posters with cool sayings. A wonderful place to dine and wonderful food. A must eat if your in Ewa Beach.

we had a beautiful beach house in ewa beach... we ate here a couple of times because the food is so good... my dad is a big fan of shiro's saimin... and i wanted to share the shiro's experience with my now husband and his family.... can't go wrong with their country fried noodles! i had to share with my son because the order was so big... teri burgers were good too but minus a few points because it was kind of overly greasy.... and my husband was in love with their super hotdog... i forget what came with it.... all i can remember was that i think it was a hotdog marinated in shoyu and they threw some char siu on it too... great food for a cheap price!

We move to Ewa beach about 6 months ago. We finally got around to going to Shiro's. It was fantastic. We walked in the door and people were so friendly and the service was really quick. It was so hard to make a choice because everything looked so good. I love Saimin and there were 60 choices! Not easy for me to pick. I picked the Hot and spicy Saimin. I asked for not super hot and it came out perfect. My sister-in-law got the Ox tail soup and she said is was some of the best she has had. My brother-in-law said the beef stew has lots of meat and was great. My husband has some fish platter that he liked and he had some of my Saimin because there was so much I could hardly eat it all. I can't wait to go back and I will tell all my friends. Did I mention the prices were really reasonable? Next time I need to read more of the sayings and poems on the wall, they were really fun. Go there and you will love it! Maybe I should have given it a 5.

Food portion is good and taste good, better than Mc'D & Burger K next door. Friendly service thumbs up, best of all pricing is fair for good food!

I liked it! I've never been to Shiro's before and I've never had Saimin before either. I'm sure there might be better places on the island I could get Saimin but I really liked it. It was clean and not busy at all. The waitress even brought a cup of ice for my son's saimin to help cool it off. Over all nice place and I would go here when I'm looking for Saimin and not ramen.

This is always a must go place when I return home to Hawaii! Food is amazing! I always get a won ton min with vegetables. It's like heaven. I don't know any other place saimin that tastes that good. Customer service is great! I love the waitress here. Even though I go only twice a year, she always remembers my usual. She always got a smile on. It feels so homey. Highly recommended!

we used to regularly go there - but no longer - loved their icees and they switched to melon - which the Pizza place in Kapoleis - KMart used to have - owner did put that in - BUT removed the coke one - found out recently that they no longer have the melon icee - when I used to go for the melon icee - its refreshing - dunno too many places that serves it - ...specially on a hot day - it is great - whenever we went to pick up food - to go and get my Icee - it ALWAYS - had issues with a non functioning machine - kinda sad --- staff would say I am so sorry - and my husband loves their fried half chicken - but the last time we went - the chicken was SO teenie - looked like a fried - dove - disappointing - we always order the gau gee min soup - and (sigh) still they get it wrong - I always say gau gee min soup with the veggies , noodles, etc - and I explain in detail and 5 times out of 10 - it is wrong . this branch is completely different from the Waimalu branch - tho we went to the Waimalu brance kinda late as in Prdge - when we got thru there were no eateries open - at 9:30 - thankfully they were open - - it took a while before we got served - LOT of staff - ... the lady who helped us was pleasant - and courteous - which was nice - too bad that the Ewa Beach Shiros is not up to par - too bad - it might be like the Waipahu one which is no longer in bizness

I decided to come by here to eat because I work in Ewa Beach one day per week. Figured that you can't really mess up saimin, so I tried that... I was wrong... #20 Chinese Pork belly Saimin with veggies was pretty horrible. I would take McDonalds Saimin any day. There was this funky aftertaste after every bite. The noodles also tasted odd. I ordered a fries as well. Worst fries ever... Didn't even know you could mess up fries that badly. Even the ketchup didn't mask the strange flavor... Kind of a bitter aftertaste... As if the oil was contaminated or something... I am not coming back... Do not come here if you want something palatable.

Not busy at all, practically empty. Sat down, drink orders taken and given a few minutes to decide. Teri beef saimin with extra char siu. Katsu saimin for my gf. Short time later the food came out. Pretty consistent as good as I remember.

Fried rice omelet and pork adobo has been a family fave for breakfast. Their fried rice is simple, yet tasty. The pork adobo is Ono! True adobo flavors with the right amount of vinegar added. Best to ask for it in a separate bowl with the juices, otherwise it's on the dry side.

we've always eaten at the Shiro's in Aiea side...since we live out in Kapolei, the Ewa Beach one is closest for us to get our saimin fix!! the broth had no taste...almost just hot water. I ordered the crispy gaugee & the outside texture of the wrap seemed as if they weren't cooked all the way. & I was right...one of the gaugee's inside the wrap was still uncooked. wish the Shiro's in Ewa Beach was as good as Aiea!! If it was, we'd visit more often.

Local: eh, Manang whea get da good adobo in Ewa beach? English translation: Excuse me mam, please direct me to an establishment located in Ewa Beach that serves delicious pork adobo. Manang: uh, Shiro's jus ober dere next to da seben eleben. English translation: I recommend Shiro's, it's located near 7-eleven Local: Shiro's dat one saimien place, maning. English Translation: Mam, I believe that restaurant serves ramen. Manang: who cook de pood? English Translation: Who cooks the food? Local: who? Manang: Pilipinos ob course. De adobo is de national dish of the Philippines. Belieb me dat de adobo here is good. English: This establishment has filipino workers. Adobo is unofficially considered the national dish by many Filipinos. The adobo dish is delicious at Shiros. Menu: Shiro's is known for it's saimin. There are over 60 different saimins that you can order. Saimin with wontons. Saimin with liver. Saimin with sushi. There's one that's called a Filipino Saimin with pork adobo. There are also saimins named after well known people people such as the local tv journalist Joe Moore and former Governor Linda Lingle. Shiro's also serves breakfast items, local dishes, and burgers. My favorite side item is the mac salad. It doesn't come with the usual macoroni. This location mac salad has spaghtti noodles Service: Hit or miss. It's understandable. There's usually only one person doing everything. Serving, busing, and cashiering.

I used to eat here fairly often, but I noticed that I could not get a hamburger patty iwthout some hard bone or tendon in it. I'm talking every few bites I bite into a solid chunk of something. Had to stop ordering the hamburger. Tried the breakfast, but the corned beef hash always has pieces of rubberband in them. WTF is that?! Literally every single time I get corned beef hash there are these rubbery pieces in there. This place uses the cheapest ingredients. I just can't do it anymore. The workers are great, but I don't go there for the workers; I go there for the food and I'm not sure what I'm eating when I eat there.

This place reminds me so much of a Zippys... similar food on the menu... similar prices... a real local feel. This place does have servers... like at a regular restaurant... or it has a fast food take out area... again just like Zippys. The dining room has a juke box... so if you want music you have to pay for it... or hope that someone else does. During my latest dining experience I got to enjoy 3 songs... the rest of the time there was no music.

It's a real hit and miss. Usually I come do take out for breakfast. Extra charge for debit and no credit so bring cash. Ladies at the counter talks a lot while I wait at the window unseen.

I enjoy their country fried noodles. Food is good, service is ok depending on who is serving you and the day. We call in our order sometimes the person taking the order don't speak great English so you gotta repeat yourself a few times. But the food is good.

We come here occasionally when we are craving saimin, the waitresses are always friendly and have a really good memory as far as what we have ordered in the past. And I can't complain about the saimin and the crazy amount of ways you can have it. The last time though was a complete dissapointment! It was raining outside so inside was pretty packed (who doesn't eat saimin during rainy weather ). The poor waitress seemed overwhelmed and it took awhile for her to get to us but the real problem was the amount of flies in that place! Also, there were about 4 tables with food that was just sitting there waiting to get cleared away, so imagine the feast the flies were having. ..ewww! Also, I wish they didn't have the bathroom in there. I mean, really! I don't know about others but hearing a toilet flush while I'm slurping on some noodles is pretty darn unappetizing! I think this is one of those places that probably won't change. It's been here a long time with the same waitresses etc. Either you accept it for what it is or just choose to go elsewhere.

When I was a kid we used to go to Shiros in Pearl City. I was so stoked there was one so near my house when I moved to Ewa. The recipe is still the same and brings back memories. I always bring out of town guests here to experience local saimin Personally I love the Kim Chew saimin...and their breakfast is ono. Cheap and simple. Too bad in Ewa we have more and more franchises. These kind of places used to be everywhere when I was growing up. Mom.and pop restaurants are a dying tradition in HI, but I'm stoked shiros is still around. Service is prompt, food is prompt and it's still just as good now as it was 30 years ago

Took some friends here for some hot noodles after being at the beach all day. KOREAN Saimin , ox tail saimin, scallop Saimin and a char sou pork saimin. All dishes were great, and they are always good. I've tried at least 15 different bowls, none has disappointed. Although the scallops was a first to see and you only get 3 deep fried scallops. The Oxtail was incredible, you get about 6 large pieces...it hit the spot. Only thing was the server was a little lost, sent out the wrong dish once, forgot our drinks and did not bring the side of Kim chee out till we were half way done. Then our sodas were all wrong, aye. 4 stars if service was better.

Came here with my husband, mother, and 3yo son. They have a great children's menu with classic favorites (corn dog, fries, chicken nuggets, etc). I had never tried the noodles before, so I didn't know what to expect. I was thinking it would be more like pancit, but it's a thicker noodle. It was delicious! The menu can be a little overwhelming at first glance (there has to be 100 choices), but the waitress was awesome and friendly, helping us with our choices. Amazing food and service, great family place as well. Will definitely be back.

Very disappointed. Walked in and the guy, I guess he's the hostess/cashier was not very friendly. He sat us at a table gave us menus and walked away. The waitress was very friendly and took our drink order first. Came back and took our order. Our food came out quickly however I ordered over easy eggs and got scrambled instead. My husbands pork adobo with fried rice was cold and oily. After getting our food not once did she come back to ask if everything was ok. When I went to pay at the cashier (the same old guy with glasses) he again wasn't so pleasant told me my total. I gave him the money he gave me my change and that was that. Not even a thank you!!! I will never come back here again. Rude service and the food was not worth the hype.

Yummy!! I like getting the hamburger steak with gravy. We went there this past Wednesday and ordered over the phone. It took about 10 minutes for us to drive there. Gracious portions and such excellent service at the take out window. We forgot to ask for gravy on the rice over the phone when we ordered but they accommodated our request even after they had our plates tied up in a bag ready to go. Definitely deserved a tip!

The noodles were good but everything else we ordered was not. I feel kinda bad too because the old ladies who serve you are so sweet. The hashbrowns were greasy and tasted like it was cooked in old oil. My sister's fried rice omelette had no flavor as if they forgot to season the rice. It was cheap but not satisfying. They also charge a free for using credit\debit card. I suggest you bring cash and dont order breakfast.

It wasn't until we moved to Ewa Beach that I got to eat at Shiro's for the first time. How is it that I'm Oahu born and raised and I never ate at Shiro's until my 30s? Unbelievable! I'm quite familiar with the name and brand because what local kid isn't? Since there aren't too many sit-down dining options in Ewa, we decided to try it out on a Saturday morning. To our surprise, there was no wait. It was busy, but we were able to get ourselves seated right away. It's reminiscent of a diner, with older aunties taking orders and serving food. I was about to order the #11 Hot and Spicy saimin add beef stick. The auntie taking my order interrupted me and said that if I got the "Linda Lingle" on the menu and paid to make it spicy, I'd be saving almost $2 since the beef stick was already included. I love it when the servers know that menu inside out and look out for the customer! The elder kid loves the Hula Burga and fries and the younger one - Keiki Saimin. Love it that the kids enjoy the food here and we don't have to worry about paying $$$ for wasted food. The menu doesn't break the bank, either. Downside? No credit cards allowed, but if you'd like to use your debit card, be prepared to pay an extra $0.79 added to your bill. A small price for convenience. The only thing that prevented me from giving them that 5th star was the fact that there's always a fly bothering us each time we visit. ALWAYS. I don't know if it's the same fly or they just don't care. Shiro's is a place that you hope never, ever goes away!
